With a robust foundation in Social Work and a focus on providing care to people living with psychosocial and intellectual disability, my journey has led me to my current role at Ability Rise Accommodation and Care. The expertise gained during my tenure here, and previously, allows me to drive initiatives that foster inclusive environments and deliver compassionate care management.

As a parent of two sons, balancing everything is a true challenge. Yet, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The joy on their faces when you give them a smile is priceless. They motivate me daily and assist me in becoming a more compassionate individual for my clients and the people in my life.

Joseph Quirino

Operations Manager

Hi, I’m Joseph, the Operations Manager at Ability Rise Accommodation and Care. My hands-on approach to client interaction, case management, and daily support fosters positive outcomes. With a background in business operations and experience in SA Health – Aboriginal Health, I’m dedicated to helping participants achieve their goals and providing exceptional care for our clients.

Passionate about achieving the best for my participants and keeping them motivated, I strive to create a supportive environment where individuals can thrive. Known for my great work ethics, I’m committed to excellence in client care and business operations.

Beyond work, I’m a proud dog parent to three very spoilt dogs, Dior, Gucci, and Prada. They are like my children. I enjoy hanging out with friends and exploring Adelaide’s food destinations.

Anna-Maria Procopio

Social Worker / SIL Manager

I’m Anna-Maria, and I serve as a manager for SILs at Ability Rise. I possess a background in both education and social work, with more than 25 years of experience in the field of social work and welfare. My expertise lies in assisting individuals with psychosocial disabilities, and I have consistently worked within the mental health sector. My role involves guiding the team to deliver high-quality services to our clients, managing their cases, and collaborating with external agencies.

Outside of work, I find pleasure in activities such as nature walks, going to the gym, listening to music, and watching reality TV shows. I value spending quality time with my family and friends. My goal is to help all participants lead the best possible life, maintain their independence, and encourage self-determination, enabling them to achieve their full potential and accomplish their objectives.

Leanne Quirino

Registered Nurse / Aboriginal Health Practitioner / SIL Manager

Leanne Quirino, a dedicated Registered Nurse and Registered Aboriginal Health Practitioner with over 22 years of experience in Aboriginal Health, has recently transitioned into the Disability field as a SIL Manager at Ability Rise Accommodation and Care in 2021.

With a deep passion for supporting clients in transforming their lives and achieving their goals, Leanne brings a wealth of experience and a strong work ethic to her role. She is committed to delivering the best outcomes and making a positive impact on the lives of those she serves.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Leanne takes pride in being a loving mother to three children and a doting grandmother to four grandchildren. Additionally, she shares her home with several furbabies who hold a special place in her heart.

Sara Mala-Toku

Senior Service Coordinator

  • Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours

My name is Sara, and I have worked at Ability Rise Accommodation and Care for nearly five years. I currently hold the position of Senior Service Coordinator. I possess a Bachelor of Nursing and a Bachelor of Pharmacy, both with Honours. Additionally, I’ve gained experience in assisting refugees who have faced significant trauma. These diverse experiences enable me to utilize my knowledge effectively in my role.

I love swimming, learning about other cultures, cooking, visiting the beach, listening to music, watching TV shows, exploring new places, and trying different recipes.

I am committed to providing care that focuses on the individual, collaborating closely with clients and their families to develop customized support strategies that enhance independence and well-being. My empathetic approach guarantees the highest level of care for all.

Maggie Zhang

Financial Officer

I have pursued my Finance and Accounting studies in the United Kingdom.  With several years of experience working as an accountant, I have honed my skills in financial management, auditing, and client relations. My expertise in accounting has allowed me to navigate complex financial scenarios with precision and integrity.

Working with clients with disabilities is a new experience. This role has provided insight into the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Assisting clients with their daily living needs and supporting them positively has been an important aspect of my professional duties.

I am a proud parent of a teenage son, who continuously inspires me with his curiosity and resilience. Balancing my professional responsibilities with my role as a parent has taught me the importance of time management and empathy. Additionally, I have a profound love for cats, whose presence brings joy and tranquility to my home. Their playful antics and affectionate nature are a constant source of comfort and happiness.

Nicole Quirino

Aboriginal Health Practitioner / Administrative and Compliance Manager

Excited to share that after 13 years of specializing in Domestic Violence within Women’s Health Aboriginal health, I’ve transitioned to Ability Rise Accommodation and Care to work in Disability services as Administrative and Compliance Manager. I’m passionate about helping individuals with disabilities achieve their goals and needs.

I thrive on collaborating with my team to enhance the knowledge and assets of the business, ensuring we provide top-notch support to clients with special needs.

Beyond work, I’m a proud mother of a beautiful boy and a huge Port Adelaide Football Club fan.

Shuo Yin

Aboriginal Health Practitioner / Administrative and Compliance Manager

  • Registered Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner / Accredited Social Worker

I’m Shuo Yin, and I hold certifications as a Accredited Social Worker and a Registered Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner. In 2018, I earned my Master’s degree in social work from Flinders University. My career began as a support worker, where I helped individuals with special needs on the NDIS who displayed challenging or concerning behaviors. This practical experience over two years has enriched my understanding of complex behaviors and the use of preventive approaches, driving my desire to enhance my clinical knowledge and abilities.

For the last couple of years, I’ve been involved in Positive Behaviour Support, working within teams, performing various behavioral evaluations, and acquiring a wider perspective on providing clinical support to vulnerable individuals.

At Ability Rise, where I currently serve as a Senior Service Coordinator, I am deeply moved by the organization’s dedication to offering care that centers on the individual and treating our clients as part of the family. Every person at Ability Rise, from the Director to the placement students we mentor and prepare, is in direct contact with our clients and has access to ample training and support aimed at enhancing their well-being. I am truly thankful and fortunate to be part of an organization that is filled with warmth and compassion for others.
