Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Each home that we provide SIL supports has a dedicated Service Coordinator. They will be on-site to coach and mentor the direct support worker team in the house. Your Service Coordinator will also provide you with some direct support to get to know you and understand your support needs.

We operate under an evidence-based active support model at Ability Rise Accommodation and Care, meaning we support you to build your independence and increase your capacity in everyday tasks. Our goal is to support you to be as active as possible in your home and community, so you can live the life you choose.

What support can we provide?

Some of the everyday tasks we can support you with are:

  • case management
  • showering and dressing
  • shopping and budgeting
  • cooking and meal preparation
  • cleaning and laundry
  • taking your medication
  • learning to catch public transport
  • getting to and from appointments and social outings and more.

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA)

What is Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA)?

Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) is an NDIS support that can help if you need a temporary place to live while waiting for your confirmed permanent home.

This is usually funded for up to 90 days, as a one-off support, when there is evidence that you have somewhere to move to after this time.

MTA funding covers the costs of the physical home you will live in. It does not cover your day-to-day living costs such as food, utilities and transport.

Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) at Ability Rise Accommodation and Care

At Ability Rise Accommodation and Care, we can support you if you have MTA funding in your NDIS plan. This is usually the case when you are:

  • Waiting for home modifications to be completed
  • Waiting for your assistive technology or support equipment to be installed
  • Leaving hospital or an aged care home
  • Experiencing a breakdown of supports and can’t live in your current home
  • Waiting for your confirmed Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home to be ready or a new build to be completed.
