Job Summary:

This position is for a casual Disability Support worker at Ability Rise Accommodation and Care, a growing NDIS service provider. 

We are seeking passionate, caring and highly committed individuals to be part of our team. As a Disability support worker, you will be required to maximize the living, employment, social and recreational skills of people with disabilities, community inclusion, independence, decision making and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on individual needs.

Key responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assisting participants to perform important daily activities and home based tasks.
  • Provide short-term focused interventions, psycho-education, and mentoring.
  • Facilitating daily personal hygiene and care tasks.
  • Assisting with coordinating and facilitating community access.
  • Providing emotional support and encouragement.
  • Supporting and encouraging informal network and relationships.
  • Facilitating participant communication and enhancing their choice and decision-making processes.
  • Implementing and monitoring Behavior Management Strategies as required.
  • Empowering participants with learning, skill development and employment.
  • Transporting participants to medical and other appointments, and social activities as required.
  • Upholding the rights, independence and dignity of all participants, ensuring confidentiality and their choices are recognized at all times.

To be eligible for position you need:

  • DCSI Disability employment check or Working with Children check issued before 01/02/2021
  • NDIS Worker Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Minimum Certificate III in Disability or other relevant qualification.
  • National Police Clearance
  • Medication Administration Certificate.
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID001, HLTAID002, HLTAID003).
  • Current Child Safe Environments Certificate (Through Their Eyes).
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
  • Hand Hygiene / NDIS Infection Control Module
  • Drivers licence and certification of roadworthy car (vehicle safety checklist will be provided)
  • Full comprehensive vehicle insurance.
  • An understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
  • Experience in the mental health industry will be highly desirable.
  • 100 points of ID
